Summer Care Guide: Keeping Your Pet Cool and Safe
Hot weather can be risky for pets. Follow these easy steps to protect your furry friend from heat and dehydration.
Indian summers can be tough on pets. Heatstroke can happen faster than most owners expect, so a little preparation goes a long way.
Always Provide Fresh Water
Keep multiple water bowls around the house and refill them often. Add a few ice cubes on very hot days.
Walk at the Right Time
Take walks early in the morning or after sunset. Hot pavement can burn paw pads, so if it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for their paws.
Never Leave Pets in a Parked Car
Temperatures inside a closed car rise within minutes and can be fatal.
Watch for Warning Signs
Heavy panting, drooling, weakness or vomiting are signs of heatstroke. Move your pet to a cool place and call your vet immediately.
Keep Them Comfortable
Use cooling mats, keep the room ventilated and give light grooming to remove extra undercoat.
